Zoe Crystal (Hooker) Wilson

Zoe Crystal Hooker Wilson was born January 8, 1923 to the late Zoe and Louie Hooker in New Washington, Indiana. She died May 14, 2017, at Westminster Health Care in Clarksville, IN. She was a 1940 graduate of New Washington High School and a 1943 graduate of Norton Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Floyd Co., Methodist, and Veterans Hospitals.

She was a member of Community Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church where she served as Elder and Deaconess. She volunteered at the Clark county Red Cross for 45 years, Center for Lay Ministries, a life member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, was a member of Clark County Church Women United AARP (President for 2 years), a former member and board member of the Clarksville Business and Professional Women's Club. She served as an officer (mostly President ) of many of these organizations and has received awards from many of them including Clarksville BPW "Woman of the Year" in 1967, the Salvation Army Medical Fellowship "Member of the Year" in 1992, Senior Citizen Jeffersonville United to Make Progress Community Serve Award in 1997, and American Red Cross 2011 Jack Leuthert Lifetime Achievement Award. She also was a Kentucky Colonel.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Jane Wilson, son, Alan Kirt Wilson, sisters, Violet Armand, Doris Neal, and brother Lamont "Joe" Hooker.

She is survived by daughters Doris Ann Whitehouse Lind (Ronnie) of Lanesville, IN., and Mary Zoe Wilson Beeler of Memphis, IN., a sister Erma Jirinec of Bowling Green, OH, son-in-law John Eiseman, daughter-in-law Lynn Wilson, 5 grandsons, Dale Lind, Ryan Lind (Amy), Nicholas Wilson, Stuart Beeler, and Michael Beeler, great-grandson Russell Lind, 4 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Ave., Clarksville, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington. Rev. Mary Wendelin and Rev. Rick Harting will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 on Thursday, and after 9:00 AM on Friday. Expressions of Sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the Community Christian Church, Center for Lay Ministries, or American Red Cross.
