J. Todd Watts

Owner/Indiana Funeral Director and Licensed Embalmer

Todd Watts is an Indiana-licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, and a 1996 graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service. Todd and his family are members of Fairview Christian Church in Underwood, a past Master of Scott Masonic Lodge #120, a past President of the Austin Lions Club, and a member of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association.

Todd is married to his high school sweetheart, Denita Watts, who is a 7th grade Science Teacher at Austin Middle School. Their daughter Kylie is currently attending at Mid-America College of Funeral Service,  while also working at the funeral home as an assistant. Their daughter Khloe is a student at Austin High School where she is active in academic clubs, band, cheer, and volleyball.

Todd and his family pledge to uphold the funeral home's legacy established by the Johnson, Chapman, and Banks families over seventy years ago, caring for each grieving family as they would their own.

Kylie is the daughter of Todd and Denita Watts, she is a graduate of Austin High School and she is an assistant at Chapman Funeral Home. In her free time, Kylie enjoys traveling, going to concerts, fitness training,  and spending time with her family. Kylie plans to attend mortuary school in the future to become a funeral director.

Evening Director

Melanie has been an employee with Chapman Funeral Home for over 10 years. She started her career in the funeral service during her high school years in Muncie, Indiana, and she has been dedicated to serving families ever since. Following her education at Mid-America College of Mortuary Science, she joined the Chapman family. Melanie is also an Indiana-licensed hairdresser and cosmetologist, serving as our in-house hairdresser.  She enjoys traveling with her husband Tony and their Bernese Mountain Dog "Jimmie Johnson", showing him in the competitive confirmation ring. Also training Jimmie for our future grief support dog.
