James Allen Lancaster

James Allen Lancaster, 72, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center at Norton Medical Pavillion in Louisville, surrounded by his family. He was born in Louisville, and was a retired salesman for the Kentucky Lumber Company and Day Lumber Company. In his later years, he worked at The Healing Place. He was a member of the Army Reserve.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. and Hallye Combs Lancaster.

Survivors include his son, Neil Lancaster (Jennifer) of Jeffersonville, two sisters, Barbara Robinson of Jeffersonville and Marjorie Hester of Oklahoma City, OK., three grandchildren, Sierra Lancaster (Chris Newland), Macy Lancaster and Noah Lancaster all of Jeffersonville.

Jim was an avid baseball fan and a life long UK fan. In his earlier years, he played baseball, golf and was one heck of a bowler. In his later years, he loved watching basketball, baseball and golf on TV and then discussing the events with his son each night on the phone. Before his health deteriorated, he was actively involved with his Sunday night group at the Jeffersonville Token Club. He regularly baked cakes, cookies and other desserts for those celebrating birthdays and was always willing to help those in need or give advice to those who were struggling. He loved his family tremendously and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them, especially his grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen per his request. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home. Memorial visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family has requested expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to Jesus Cares at Exit 0, a local homeless outreach ministry at( P.O. Box 1315, Jeffersonville, IN 47131-1315) Donations  may be made online at www.jesuscaresatexitO.org
