Allie Mae Baird, nee Lewis, was born May 20, 1922 in Corydon, Indiana. She passed away on December 9, 2016 at age 94. Allie Mae was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Allie Mae married Richard “Carpy” Baird in 1944. They made their home in Clarksville, Indiana. Richard predeceased Allie Mae in 2014.
Allie Mae is survived by 4 children: Pamela K. Gifford (Greg), Linda S. Nein (Jay), Richard R. Baird, Jr. (Son) and Libby L. Ryan (John, deceased). Allie Mae is survived by 10 grandchildren: Timothy F. Nein (Renea), Jennifer L. Reed, Sara Jo Clark (Ed), Melissa K. Babbs (Travis), John R. Ryan (Amanda), Joseph L. Ryan (Meagan), Bill Storms, Rebecca L. Wood, Richard R. Baird, III (Nicole) and Charles F. Baird. Allie Mae is also survived by 1 great grandchildren.
Allie Mae was a member of Howard Park Christian Church where she once taught Sunday school. She worked at the Indiana Ammunitions Plant in Charlestown, Indiana during World War II and the Vietnam War. She also worked in the family business, Baird Ice Cream, and in several other positions after her children were school age.
Allie Mae enjoyed good times with family and friends. Her cooking and pie making were treasured by everyone. Allie Mae was witty and gave her friends and family many chuckles and happy memories. Allie Mae gave unconditional love to all her family. That love will be remembered long after her passing.
The family wish to thank the staff of Maple Manner Nursing home for the love and support the staff gave our Mother.
The Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Howard Park Christian Church, Clarksville, Indiana. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarksville, Indiana from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Rather than flowers, the family would like expressions of sympathy to be made by donations to Howard Park Christion Church, Clarksville, Indiana in Allie Mae’s name.
