William (Bill) Earl Tyler, 94, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, at his home in Clarksville, Indiana. He was born on July 5, 1930, in Morgantown, KY to the late Bill and Gladys (Hunt) Tyler. William was a member and served as a Deacon of Colgate Baptist Church in Clarksville, a Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired from the US Corps of Engineers. He was a star basketball player in high school. His love of sports propelled him to coach both Little League Baseball and Little Generals Football. He was an avid golfer and a University of Kentucky fan. Bill could be found on the golf course several days a week.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Steve Tyler, and a daughter, Diana (Tyler) Workman.
William is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Colleen (McAdams) Tyler; two sons, John Tyler and Tim Tyler (Dr. Ann Granicz). Three grandchildren, Danny (Jessica) Tyler, Michelle (Brian) Turner, and LaCi (Chris) Workman and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Avenue, Clarksville, Indiana, and on Saturday at the church 30-minutes prior to the funeral service. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Colgate Baptist Church, 125 East Montgomery Ave, Clarksville, IN with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
