Sue F. (Fleming) Kenney

Sue Fleming Kenney, 93, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on January 22, 2023. She was born in French Lick, Indiana, on July 3, 1929. She was the only child of Clifford E. and Loma Mason Fleming. She moved to New Albany when she was a baby. She graduated from New Albany High School Class of 1947. In 1950 she married her high school sweetheart J. Donald Kenney, Jr. Don and Sue were co-owners Williams Bakery and the Nutmeg House Restaurant.

Sue was a lifelong member of Silver Street United Methodist Church. Over the years she served as chairperson of many committees, Lay Leader, delegate to Annual Conference, President of the United Methodist Women and delegate to School of Missions. She taught both Junior and Senior High Sunday School classes and along with her husband served as Youth Directors. She spent many hours in the church kitchen, raising money for adult and youth mission trips and running a Soup Kitchen once a week for local needy families.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by a daughter Melanie Davis (Dennis), and a son Jim Kenney (Judy), grandchildren Nathan Davis, Emily Scalise (Justin), Laura Schmitt (Nate), Alex Kenney (Melissa) and Malia Kenney; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Sue will be held on Saturday January 28th from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. at Silver Street United Methodist Church, 413 Silver Street, New Albany, IN., a funeral service will immediately follow. Entombment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
