Patrick “Pat” G. Shockey, age 83, of Clarksville, Indiana, peacefully passed away, Friday, August 8, 2025, at 4:24 p.m. at Silvercrest Place in New Albany, Indiana.
He was born on July 29, 1942, in Middletown, Ohio, to the late Charles Edmond "Buzz" Shockey and Eula Shockey. Pat was a graduate of Middletown High School and honorably served as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he became a dedicated educator, teaching at Clark County School System where he also served as the tennis coach, sharing his love for the game with his students. In addition, he was a respected language arts instructor at Indiana University Southeast. Pat was devoted to teaching, and his lifelong passion for tennis. Whether on the court or in the classroom, he touched countless lives through his encouragement, guidance, and example. Pat was involved with a Men’s Group at Southeast Christian Church in Southern Indiana that studied Love Where You Are led by Dave Stone.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beth Shockey; son, Dr. Chuck Shockey; and his daughter, Heather Shockey. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Shelly Herald and a brother, Richard "Dick" Shockey.
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of life will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Southeast Christian Church, Indiana Campus.
