Norma Jeanne Perkins “Mimi”, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on January 10, 1942, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, she was the daughter of William and Virgie Bottorff and Willy Mae (Tibbs) Bottorff.
Norma was a proud graduate of Clarksville High School, Class of 1960, where she formed lifelong friendships and was an active member of the Que Amicae sorority she cherished throughout her life. On August 17, 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Louie H. Perkins, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned 65 years.
She dedicated 35 years of service to the Greater Clark County School system, working as a secretary at East Lawn and Bridgepoint Elementary Schools. Norma was known and loved by countless students, teachers, and staff. Her kindness, warmth, and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Norma was a wonderful woman who lived her life for her children, grandchildren, and dear friends. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she found her greatest joy in being surrounded by those she loved.
She is survived by her children: Bryan (Carletta) Perkins, Kelli Perkins, and Alyson (Brent) Thompson; and Shari Perkins. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Adam (Mary) Thompson , Paige (John) Thompson , Kody (Summer) Dennis, and Courtney (Zach) Kotecki; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Stephen “Tripp” Gum and Cameron Kotecki.
Norma is also survived by her siblings: Donna (Jimmy) Tyler, William Jr. (Kyomi) Bottorff, Mike (JinJin) Perkins, and Vickie (Duke) Edwards; along with many loving nieces and nephews including Amy (Greg) McKay, Tiffany (Tony) Brock, Chadd (Robbi) Tyler, Jenny (Clint) Davis, Jessica (Justin) Chumbley, Missy Perkins, and Mark (Theresa) Perkins, as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie H. Perkins; her parents, William and Virgie Bottorff and Willy Mae Tibbs Bottorff; her grandparents, Dela (“Mombo”) and Frank Bottorff; and her in-laws, Ruth and Curtis VanHook.
Norma’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever
A memorial visitation for Norma will be on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Avenue, Clarksville, Indiana 47129 with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m.
