Mitzi J. Hart

Mitzi Jo Hampton Hart, age 61, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 7:48 p.m. She was born in New Albany, Indiana on December 1, 1963, to the late James Willis Hampton and Betty Janell Spears Hampton.

Mitzi earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Jefferson County Technical College and went on to dedicate her career to caring for others as a nurse with the Visiting Nurses Association of Kentucky. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her work—she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mitzi was known for her incredible cooking, her generous heart, and her selfless nature. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and touched the lives of many with her kindness and warmth.

She is survived by her loving husband of two days shy of 38 years, Robert “Rob” Hart; her children, Samuel Lee Bir Jr. and Erica Renee Clark (Kevin); her cherished grandchildren, Nicolas Bir, Cameron Bir, Canaan Bir, Quentin Clark, and Cora Clark; her sister, Donna Lee Rose; and daughter in law, April Durrett. 

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 5 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Ave, Clarksville, IN 47129.

Mitzi’s legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
