Melinda K Atkins

Melinda K. Atkins, age 69, passed away at 1:57 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2023 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY, surrounded by her family.  

Melinda was born to the late Edward and Catherine (Shelton) Denman on September 22, 1953 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was an Education Coordinator for Visually Impaired Preschool Services, she was a very active member of Howard Park Christian Church of which she served as Choir Director, Board Chairman, Deacon, Elder and organized free community dinners. She was also the Charter President of Sigma Kappa at Indiana University Southeast, PTA member with Clarksville Middle School and GRC School, a Band Booster Parent, an avid IU Hoosiers fan and a devoted MiMi.   

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Catherine Hardin (Matthew) of Jeffersonville; her siblings, Cindy Denman of Sellersburg, Ron Denman (Rhonda) of New Albany, and Terry Burres (Rich) of Clarksville; her two grandchildren, Maycin Rose, and Mattox John. 

 Visitation will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 5-8 at Howard Park Christian Church 450 Norwood Avenue, Clarksville, IN and on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the church 

 Funeral Service will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Thursday August 31, 2023, at Howard Park Christian Church. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Howard Park Christian Church or Visually Impaired Preschool Services.  

 Arrangements are entrusted to Chapman Funeral Home 431 West Harrison Ave, Clarksville, IN
