Mary Ellen (Cuffel) Fisher

Mary Ellen Fisher, age 84, of Clarksville, IN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at her home. Born on June 27, 1939, in Stockwell, Indiana to the late Harold L. Cuffel and Louise Ellen (Showalter) Cuffel. Mary Ellen devoted her life to caring for others.

Mary Ellen was a very self-sufficient lady, she was an excellent seamstress, a gardener, she canned all varieties of foods, she cared for the family’s farm animals, and she was a beekeeper. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and taking them on educational day trips during the summer.   

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth Lloyd Fisher, and a daughter, Brenda Ellen Fisher; her siblings Malcom Cuffel, Eleanor (Cuffel) Arwilda Zapp, Ralph Cuffel; and a son in law, Kenny Eldridge Sr.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Branham (Joe) of Elizabeth, IN and Beverly Eldridge of Floyd Knobs; IN. her grandchildren, Denver Eldridge Jr. (Joni) of Clarksville, IN, James Branham (Nicole) of Chicago, IL, Nicole Worley (Shawn) of Floyd Knobs, IN; and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mary Ellen will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Ave, Clarksville, IN.  Burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Romney, IN with a graveside service starting at approximately 1:30 or 2 p.m. Visitation will be on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
