Loyd Earl Flener

Loyd Earl Flener, born on September 7, 1953, in New Albany, IN, peacefully departed this life on January 22, 2026. Loyd was a dedicated machinist by trade during his years of employment with Southern Railway - Norfolk Southern, from where he retired.

Loyd is preceded in death by his loving parents, Delmer Jr. and Irene Flener, one daughter, Maria Gayle Flener, and one brother, Virgil Clayton Flener.  

He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Flener, two daughters Jana Free of Milltown, IN and Jocelyn (Gary) Smith of Corydon, In. Grandchildren, Jontel Pierce, Nathaniel Free, Vanessa Smith, Carl Smith, and one great grandson, Sister, Carol Flener Kinser, brother William (Tina) Flener, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Avenue on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 am until the service time.

The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 673 North Maple Street, Corydon, Indiana 47112
