Louie Hunter Perkins, 82, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 10:10 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was born on April 17, 1942, in Clarksville, Indiana, to the late George Hunter Perkins and Ruth Stepro Perkins.
Louie was a proud graduate of Clarksville High School, Class of 1960, and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also a dedicated member of the American Legion Post. A man of many talents and a strong work ethic, Louis held various roles throughout his life, including positions at Ford Motor Company, Peyton’s, Sizzler, and Phillips Property. He also owned and operated Save-A-Step convenience stores.
Beyond his professional life, Louie found joy in fishing and camping at Nolin Lake. He cherished time spent with family and friends
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Jeanne (Bottorff) Perkins; his children, Bryan (Carletta) Perkins, Kelli Perkins, and Alyson (Brent) Thompson; grandchildren, Adam Thompson, Paige Thompson, Dakoda (Summer) Dennis, and Courtney (Zach) Kotecki; great-grandchildren, Stephen “Willie” Gum and baby Kotecki; siblings, Michael (Jinnie) Perkins and Vickie (Duke) Edwards; daughter-in-law, Shari Perkins; and brother- and sister-in-law, William (Keyomi) Bottorff and Donna (Jimmy) Tyler. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful canine companions, Belle and Duke.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Curtis VanHook and his mother and father in law William (Virgie) Bottorff.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Ave, Clarksville, IN 47129, with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 PM.
Interment will be at a later date in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
