Koran Bethel Obituary

In Loving Memory of Koran King Bethel

It is with unimaginable heartbreak that we announce the passing of Koran King Bethel, age 11, of New Albany, Indiana, who gained his wings on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Born on July 26, 2014, in Louisville, Kentucky, to his loving mother, Kerri Marie Bethel, Koran brought joy, laughter, and light into the world from the very beginning. Though his time on earth was far too short, the impact he made on those around him will

last forever.

Koran was a student at Scribner Middle School and was known for his kind heart, bright smile, and unforgettable personality. He was the type of child who never met a stranger and rarely left a place without making a new friend. Whether he was at school, in the neighborhood, or simply out and about, Koran had a special gift for connecting with people. His warm spirit, infectious laughter, and genuine kindness drew others to him effortlessly.

Koran loved spending time playing Roblox, competing in Beyblade battles, and cheering on his favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers. He had a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial mindset well beyond his years, often taking pride in earning his own money by mowing yards. He was ambitious, determined, and always looking for ways to help others while working toward his goals.

More than anything, Koran will be remembered for the love he shared so freely. He had a heart that welcomed everyone, a smile that could brighten the darkest day, and a way of making people feel seen, valued, and important. His presence brought happiness wherever he went, and his absence leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express.

Koran leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Kerri Bethel; his beloved sisters, Keasia Stephens and Kamari Stephens; his aunts Shanelle Bethel, Cindy Bethel, and Kimberly Bethel; Uncles Pierre Bethel, & Guy Bethel ; as well as countless cousins, Andrew, A’Breonna ,Korea, Leon’Na, Tyreaa, Gregory, Isley and Ivory, TaVaughntae, Classmates, neighbors, and friends whose lives were touched by his love and friendship.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe Reed and Ruth Bethel, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
While our hearts are broken by this tremendous loss, we find comfort in knowing that Koran’s legacy of kindness, friendship, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched. Though he was only with us for eleven years, he taught us the value of being kind, making connections, and finding joy in every moment.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
