James W. Rissler, 81, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Clark Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Hardin Co. Ky., and was a retired Assistant Chief of Police for Clarksville, and court bailiff for Judge Joe Weber and the Clarksville Town Court, and served as a Town of Clarksville employee for 52 years. He was a Marine Veteran, a member of American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28, the Clark County FOP, and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (McDonner) Rissler, his first wife, Betty (Satterly) Rissler, a son, Scott Rissler, and siblings Frank Rissler, and Sue Hills.
Survivors include his wife Peggy (Alta) Schilmiller Rissler, children, Deborah Rissler Farnsley (Bill) of Charlestown, Stewart Lynch (Amy), Elizabeth, IN., grandchildren Amanda Flowers, Shelby Vincent, Michael Lynch, and two sisters, Dorothy LaHue and Mary Hale (Olan).
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 10:30 AM at Chapman Funeral Home with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Visitation will be Friday, June 22, from 1:00 to 8:00 PM and after 9:00 on Saturday. Online condolences at www.chapmanfuneralhome.net
