Herbert E Hammonds

Herbert E. Hammonds, age 78, passed away at 6:47 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Clark Memorial Hospital. Herbert was born on October 27, 1946, in Portland, TN to the late Curtis Virgil Hammonds and Elizabeth Franklin Hammonds. He faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War and was a retired industrial worker. Herbert held a position with the Blackfeet Native American Tribal Council of Utah. In his leisure time, he was a gifted artist who could look at a scene briefly and later sketch it by memory. 

Herbert is survived by his wife of many years, Odette Hammonds; his children, Paul (Emily) Hammonds, Michael (Kim) Hammonds, and Gertrude “Eva” Hammonds; grandchildren, Michael, Mykela, Malique, Trenton, Jaisen and Nicholas Hammonds; siblings, Edythe Carruthers, Dorrine (Johnny) Chumley, Virgil Hammonds, Joe (Patricia) Hammonds, Michelle Raines, Sherry (Gerald) Batchelor and Hope Hammonds; along with a host of nieces and nephews. 

Visitation for Herbert will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Avenue, Clarksville, IN, followed by his funeral service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
