DeAnna Atwood Shiner, age 76, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 5:52 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Westminster Health Care. Born on October 12, 1948, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, DeAnna was the daughter of the late Vaughn Harrison Atwood Sr. and Helen Lloyd Colglazier Atwood. A lifelong learner and gifted artist, DeAnna proudly earned four Bachelor of Arts degrees—in Art History, Creative Writing, Expository Writing, and English Literature. She worked as a dedicated proctor at the University of Louisville before retiring. DeAnna had a deep love for the arts and a passion for creativity. She was a talented artist who found joy in expressing herself through her work, and she cherished time spent with her family. Her intelligence, warmth, and generous spirit touched the lives of many.
She is survived by her loving son, Christopher Eric Shiner (Whitney); her cherished grandson, Lachlan Shiner; siblings, Patricia Atwood Tichonoff and John Atwood (Sherry); nine nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many other loved ones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Vaughn Harrison Atwood Jr., Gloria Atwood, and her brother-in-law, Alexander Tichonoff.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and again on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Ave, Clarksville, IN 47129. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the same location.
Burial will take place at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
