Cleta H. Cornelius Platt, 98 years of age, passed on to heaven Thursday, March 10, 2022 at home in Clarksville, Indiana. She was born in Williambsburg, Kentucky September 28, 1923 to Clinton Cornelius and Minnie Mae Ballard. Cleta was a long time member of Morton Memorial Methodist Church in Clarksville and active in many local charities down through the years. During the Vietnam War, Cleta worked at the ICI America Army Ammunition Plant in Charlestown in support of her four sons in military service. Later in life, she prepared annual income tax forms for individuals.
Cleta love life, family, learning, nature and especially the sounds of children playing. She was a very loving and generous person, helping to assist in looking after and raising many of the neighborhood children throughout the years. She was certainly a remarkable individual.
In addition to her parents, Cleta was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Platt and son, Robert L. Platt and many siblings and close family members. She is survived by her remaining sons, John J. Platt, Kenneth W. Platt (Vickie), and Thomas C. Platt all of Clarksville, daughter-in-law Sue Cooper Platt of New Albany, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister Lora Bowman of Indianapolis and other extended family. A special thanks to Mom's caregivers, Stacey Schneider and other beautiful individuals.
There will be a private graveside funeral service held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Avenue, Clarksville, Indiana.
