Dr Charles R. Lamb, 92, died at 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in New Albany, Indiana.
A native of Richmond, Kentucky, Dr. Lamb was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict, returning to begin his 41- year teaching career at his alma mater, Madison High School, and marrying the former Jamie Dearing in 1955. Mrs. Lamb died in 2000 after 45 years of marriage. The Lambs moved to Indiana in 1957 where he taught English at both Hazelwood Junior High and New Albany Senior High before joining Indiana University Southeast in 1965. He held several administrative positions and was professor of English Education until his retirement in 1996.
Dr. Lamb was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Peabody of Vanderbilt, and Indiana University. He was a member and held office in Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, and the Association of Teacher Educators.
He is survived by his son, Dr. David K. Lamb of Clarksville, IN
Cremation was chosen. A memorial visitation will be on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 12:30 p.m.to 1:45 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2796 Charlestown Road, New Albany, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. private entombment take place at Kraft Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the music fund of Trinity Church in memory of Dr. Charles Lamb.
