Evelyn Joan “Crum” Coomer, 88, of Clarksville, a Christian woman, joined her Heavenly Father on August 21, 2018. She was born on August 7, 1930. She was a proud 1948 graduate of Jeffersonville High School. For 51 years she was the owner and manager of Cannon’s Florist in Clarksville. During her years at the florist, she enjoyed the interactions with her customers, friends, and employees. Her original floral designs were appreciated by many. Most important to her was her loving family. She cherished the family gatherings when celebrating birthdays and holidays. She was very generous and enjoyed making many friends and relatives happy by giving a special gift. She was a natural caregiver who always put others’ needs first.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Hartman Crum, her father, Dexter Crum, and her brother James Crum of Brownsburg, IN.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Gene Coomer, two sons, Max Coomer (Cathy) of El Paso, TX and Tim Coomer (Cheri) of Corydon, IN. A sister, Marie Long (Chuck) of Jeffersonville, 10 grandchildren, Jason, Julie Sanderson (Derek), Daniel, Diana Leon (David) of Fort Bragg, NC., Derek, Aaron of Moscow, Russia, Olivia of Los Angeles, CA., Ben of Lafayette, IN., Joel and Emma, seven great-grandchildren, Courtney, Jaden and Ava Sanderson, Blaise, Violet, Gabriel and Lily Leon, and her three beloved pets, Hanna, Toby and Kelly.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarksville with entombment at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 on Friday and after 9:00 AM until the time of the service Saturday.
