Richard Dean McEwen

Richard Dean McEwen, 58, of New Albany, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on March 13, 2024. He was born August 27, 1965, in Illinois and moved to Indianapolis as a young boy. He was a 1983 graduate of Ben Davis High School and a graduate of Indiana University. Rich was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His daughter and granddaughter were the light of his life. He was happiest when he was on his boat on a lake with his family and friends, especially Boom Lake in Wisconsin or Rough River in Kentucky or camping with friends and family.. He was a talented water skier. Rich worked for Jefferson County Public School System.

Survivors include his loving daughter, Gabrielle “Brie” McEwen; granddaughter, Veyla McEwen, brother, Todd (Viki) McEwen; sisters, Cathy Wilson, and Beth (Bill) Verhonik; former wife, Marla King; nieces and nephews, Michael, Peter, Heather, Matthew, Christopher, Jessica, Sydney and Andrew; also, many great nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (Chellman) and John McEwen Sr. and his brother, John McEwen Jr.

Services will be Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Avenue, Clarksville, IN 47129 with visitation from 1-3 pm and funeral service immediately following.
