Charles Glasscock Obituary

Charles Louis Glasscock was born on June 13, 1931 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He died on September 11, 2023 at the age of 92 in Louisville, Kentucky.
 

Charles is survived by his daughter Christine Glasscock Shoemaker (David Sweet) and his grandson Avery Shoemaker as well as his step Children, Ronda R Cannon (Frank), James and Bruce McClellan.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John Wayne and Elsie Runner Glasscock, wife, Nancy Adams Glasscock, sisters, Jacyle Richards, and Kathleen Glasscock, his brothers, M. Rhodes, M. Raphael, and Clark Wayne Glasscock. Charles also preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Jane Glasscock and step son Eric McClellan (Linda).

Charles joined the US Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky serving as a Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne. He served two tours of duty during the Korean War rising to the rank of Staff Sargent.

Charles lived a varied life, living in Japan during one of the Korean War tours as well as Louisville, Lexington, and finally to Clarksville, Indiana where he spent the rest of his life.

Charles enjoyed working with cars and helping people. He finally ended his  working career in security services with Allied Universal. He enjoyed working and did so over his 92 years of life.

Charles liked horses and taught his children to ride. He was also a University of Kentucky Basketball and Atlanta Braves fan. He also enjoyed working with leather, crafting many items for his family.

The family thanks all those who have helped care for Charles during the past few years, driving him to work, shopping and caring for him.

A visitation service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Chapman Funeral Home, 431 West Harrison Ave, Clarksville, IN 47129. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m -3:00 p.m. 

Entombment will be at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, IN
